What are Argentine holidays like?

In Argentina there are national holidays, which also include memorial days. On these dates, the majority of the country’s population has an official non-working day. Some religious holidays are equivalent to state holidays. But they apply only to followers of a certain religion.

There are also unofficial holidays in Argentina. They are enshrined in law, but are not days off from work. On such days, events, memorial and religious services, celebrations, etc. may be held. They are organized by private, government or international organizations at their discretion.

Holidays in Argentina, unlike many countries, are not postponed. If a holiday falls on a Sunday, residents of the country do not have additional leave. Therefore, Easter Sunday is not considered a national public holiday in Argentina, since it cannot fall on a working day.
