What is celebrated on Independence Day in Bosnia and Herzegovina?

Independence Day is dedicated to March 1, 1992, when the referendum on the independence of Bosnia and Herzegovina took place. The turnout in the referendum was 63.4%. Of these, 99.7% voted for independence. Five days later, on April 6, 1992, the United States and the European Economic Community recognized Bosnia and Herzegovina as an independent state.

Statehood Day is dedicated to the proclamation of Bosnia and Herzegovina as an independent state. On November 25, Bosnians commemorate the event of 1943, when the Anti-Fascist Council for the National Liberation of Bosnia and Herzegovina proclaimed itself the highest authority in the independent Bosnian state.
