The Day of Restoration of the State of Lithuania is dedicated to the events of February 16, 1918. Then the Council of Lithuania signed the Act of Independence of Lithuania. Its main theme was the demand for the Constituent Sejm to recognize independence and establish the foundations of the state and its international relations.

According to it: “the exercise of the sovereign power of the State of Lithuania, abolished by a foreign power in 1940, is restored, and from now on Lithuania is again an independent state.”
