Monaco has 12 public holidays a year, they are official days off. If a holiday falls on a Sunday, the following Monday becomes a public holiday. This only applies to six public holidays:
New Year.
1st of May.
Dormition.
All Saints’ Day.
Prince’s Day.
Christmas.
On public holidays that fall on non-working days, all employees are paid (according to the official website of the Principality of Monaco ). Its size is the same as if the employee worked that day. A non-working day is any day when the employee was not supposed to work (Sunday, floating holiday, non-working day in a particular company, etc.).
If a public holiday falls on a paid vacation, it does not count towards it. Public holidays are not paid if the employee was absent from work on the day before or after the holiday. Exceptions are for good reasons, such as:
Accident.
Illness (confirmed by the doctor’s opinion).
Exceptional family circumstances.
Force majeure circumstances.
If an employee works on a holiday, he is entitled to compensation. It could be:

Saint Devota is a revered saint in Corsica and Monaco, and her legend dates back to the 4th century AD. They wanted to burn her remains, but the Christians saved them. Now they are kept in the Cathedral of the Principality of Monaco.
