When children in Andorra take a break from school
Schools in Andorra operate on a five-day system, with Saturday and Sunday being closed. Children also have five rest periods during the school year:
- Summer holidays.
- All Saints’ Day holidays (autumn holidays).
- Christmas holidays.
- Carnival holidays.
- Easter holidays.
In addition to school holidays, students and teachers in Andorra have a break from school on official public holidays, when all residents of the country have a day off from work. These are New Year, Constitution Day of Andorra, the feast of Our Lady of Meritxell and Christmas. Three of these days fall during school holidays, only Constitution Day falls during the school year.
In addition to the above, Andorra has parish (religious) holidays. On these dates, schools are closed, although there is no general day off. Most do not have a fixed date and fall on school holidays. There are also local holidays dedicated to the patron saints of parishes. In the corresponding parishes, schools are closed on these days.
IMPORTANT! If a holiday falls on a Sunday, it is not transferred. If a parish holiday falls on a school holiday, another holiday, Saturday or Sunday, it is not transferred.
School holidays in Andorra 2024-2025
Below are the officially approved school holidays in Andorra 2024-2025. These dates are published on the official website of the country’s government govern.ad.
IMPORTANT! In Andorra there is no exact date for the start of summer holidays. The Ministry of Education sets the last week of the school year. The exact date of the last day of school and the first day of summer holidays is determined by the school administration.
- Summer holidays 2024 – from 24-28 June to Sunday 8 September 2024.
- All Saints’ Day (Autumn Break) – Monday 28 October to Friday 1 November 2024.
- Christmas holidays – from Monday 23 December 2024 to Monday 6 January 2025.
- Carnival holidays – from Monday 24 February to Monday 3 March 2025.
- Easter holidays – from Thursday 17 April to Friday 2 May 2025.
- Summer holidays 2025 – from 23-30 June 2025.
Free days in 2024-2025
Below are the holidays when all schools are closed to teachers and students. There are only two such dates in the 2024-2025 school year that are not on a school holiday
and do not fall on a Saturday or Sunday:
- March 14, 2025 (Friday) – Andorra Constitution Day.
- June 9, 2025 (Monday) – Pentecost.
