Below are the school holidays in Bulgaria 2024-2025. At the time of publication of this article, the Ministry of Education and Science has published the official schedule of the school year. The dates of school holidays and holidays are accurate and will not change.
Summer holidays 2024:
- For students in grades 1-3 – from Thursday, May 30, 2024, to Sunday, September 15, 2024.
- For students in grades 4-6 – from Saturday, June 15, 2024, to Monday, September 16, 2024.
- For students in grades 7-11 – from Saturday, June 29, 2024, to Tuesday, September 17, 2024.
- For students in grade 12 – from Saturday, May 25, 2024, to Wednesday, September 18, 2024.
Autumn holidays 2024 – from Thursday, October 31, 2024 to Sunday, November 3, 2024.
Christmas holidays 2024-2025 – from Saturday, December 21, 2024 to Thursday, January 2, 2025.
Midterm Break 2025 – Wednesday, February 5, 2025.
Spring Break 2025 for students in grades 1-11 is from Saturday, March 29, 2025 to Sunday, April 6, 2025.
Spring Break 2025 for 12th grade students is from Friday, April 4, 2025 to Sunday, April 6, 2025.
Summer holidays 2024:
- For students in grades 1-3 – from Monday, June 2, 2025 (actually from Saturday, May 31, 2025).
- For students in grades 4-6 – from Monday, June 16, 2025 (actually from Saturday, June 14, 2025).
- For students in grades 7-11 – from Monday, June 20, 2025 (actually from Saturday, June 28, 2025).
- For students in grade 12 – from Thursday, May 15, 2025.
Dates when schools are closed in 2024-2025
In addition to school holidays, there are nine public holidays in Bulgaria in 2024-2025 when schools are closed. The rules for transferring a non-working day from Sunday for schools work in the same way as for other institutions. List of public holidays that do not fall during school holidays in Bulgaria 2024-2025, but during school periods:
- September 22, 2024 (Sunday) – Independence Day of Bulgaria.
- November 1, 2024 (Friday) – National Awakening Day.
- March 3, 2025 (Monday) – Liberation Day.
- April 18, 2025 (Friday) – Orthodox Good Friday.
- April 19, 2025 (Saturday) – Orthodox Easter Saturday.
- April 20, 2025 (Sunday) – Orthodox Easter Sunday.
- April 21, 2025 (Monday) – Orthodox Easter Monday.
- May 1, 2025 (Thursday) – Labor Day.
- May 6, 2025 (Tuesday) – St. George’s Day, Army Day.
Exams for the 2024-2025 academic year
State matriculation examination in Bulgarian language and literature – May 19, 2025.
Second state exam – May 21, 2025.
National external assessment in Bulgarian language and literature, and mathematics for 4th grade students – May 26 and 28, 2025.
National external assessment in Bulgarian language and literature, and mathematics for 7th grade students – June 23 and 25, 2025.
National external assessment in Bulgarian language and literature, and mathematics for 10th grade students – June 16 and 18, 2025.
