Division into Zones

The territory of France is divided into three academic (educational) zones. They are named after the first letters of the Latin alphabet:

  • Zone A;
  • Zone B;
  • Zone C

These zones have the same dates for summer and Christmas holidays. As well as breaks for All Saints Day and Ascension Day. Winter and spring break dates are different. The French made the division into zones for two reasons.

The first is that they have different climatic conditions. The second is to reduce the load on the infrastructure. French people love to travel, so if everyone has holidays at the same time, there will be a traffic collapse, there will be traffic congestion, a lack of tickets and places in hotels.
