Listed below are the school holidays in Lithuania 2024-2025. Please note that the start date of the summer holidays depends on the grade your child is in. The data is provided in accordance with the approved order Nr. 2023-07841 of 24 April 2023.
- First day of school is September 2 (Monday) 2024.
- Autumn holidays – from October 28 (Monday) 2024 to October 31 (Thursday) 2024.
- Christmas holidays – from December 27 (Friday) 2024 to January 8 (Wednesday) 2025.
- Winter holidays – from February 17 (Monday) 2025 to February 21 (Friday) 2025.
- Easter holidays (spring break) – from April 22 (Tuesday) 2025 to April 25 (Friday) 2025.
Summer Vacation Dates 2025 by Class
- Summer holidays 2025 for students in grades 1-4 (primary education) – from June 8 (Sunday) 2025 to August 31 (Sunday) 2025.
- Summer holidays 2025 for students in grades 5-10 and grades I-II of secondary school (basic education) – from June 22 (Sunday) 2025 to August 31 (Sunday) 2025.
- Summer holidays 2025 for students in the 3rd grade of secondary school – from June 15 (Sunday) 2025 to August 31 (Sunday) 2025.
- Summer holidays 2025 for students in the 4th grade of secondary school – from June 1 (Sunday) 2025 to August 31 (Sunday) 2025.
Days off from school for holidays in 2024-2025
School holidays in Latvia are not the only time for a break from classes. Children and teachers are exempt from attending school on public holidays. Below we provide a list of such days that fall in the 2024-2025 school year.
- November 1, 2024 – All Saints’ Day.
- November 2, 2024 — Vespers.
- December 24, 2024 – St. Koutsios.
- December 25, 2024 – Christmas.
- December 26, 2024 – Second Day of Christmas.
- February 16, 2025 – Day of Restoration of the State of Lithuania.
- March 11, 2025 – Independence Day.
- April 20, 2025 – Easter.
- April 21, 2025 – Second day of Easter.
- May 1, 2025 – International Labour Day.
- May 4, 2025 – Mother’s Day.
- June 1, 2025 – Father’s Day.
Other reasons for exemption from school in the 2024-2025 school year
Children may be excused from classes for other reasons. Below we provide a list of them:
- If the air temperature is below -20 degrees Celsius, students in grades 1-5 may not attend school.
- If the temperature is below -25 degrees, students of all grades may not attend school.
- If during the cold season the temperature in classrooms and assembly halls is below +18 or above +22 degrees Celsius, the educational process may be reviewed and adjusted.
- If during the warm season the temperature in classrooms and assembly halls is above +26 degrees, the educational process should be reviewed and adjusted.
- If the temperature in classrooms and halls is above +26 degrees, outside it is above +30 degrees and the school cannot ensure that classes are held at an acceptable temperature, students may not attend classes.
