The school year schedule in Belgian educational institutions depends on their location and membership in the linguistic community. In this publication, we have collected school holidays in Belgium 2024-2025 for three communities in the country:
IMPORTANT! If your school is located in Brussels, check whether it belongs to the Flemish or French community. This can be done on the school website or in the administration.
In addition to vacation periods, schoolchildren have rest on public holidays and Community Day. Their lists are given in the last sections of the article. In all schools, children study from Monday to Friday. An exception to the rule is secondary art education institutions with a reduced number of hours. Such schools operate on Saturdays, and the length of the school year is 29, 33 or 37 weeks a year.
Depending on the region, school holidays may have different names. For example: the spring holidays in the Flemish Community correspond to the relaxation holidays of the French Community and the carnival holidays of the German-speaking Community. We provide the names of the holiday periods in the original, as indicated on official websites and documents.

Autumn holidays 2024 – from October 28, 2024 (Monday) to November 3, 2024 (Sunday).
Christmas holidays 2024-2025 – from December 23, 2024 (Monday) to January 5, 2025 (Sunday).
Spring break 2025 – from March 3, 2025 (Monday) to March 9, 2025 (Sunday).

This subsection lists the school holidays in Belgium 2024-2025 for compulsory education in the French Community. This calendar is required for all schools except secondary art education with a reduced number of hours (information for them is given below).
