When do children in the US get a break from school?

The entire United States is divided into school districts. As of 2022, there were 12,546 of them. The situation has not changed at the moment, but there is no exact data. In most school districts, students have four periods of rest:

1. Summer break.
2. Thanksgiving break.
3. Winter holidays.
4. Spring break.

Some school districts have fall breaks and breaks for major religious holidays (Rosh Hashanah, Diwali, etc.), which typically last 2-3 days.

Almost always, school holidays are planned so that they start on Monday and end on Friday. Therefore, weekends can be added to them. For example, if officially spring break runs from March 17 to 21, 2025, then in reality children rest from March 15 to 23.
