Peculiarities of holidays in schools in the Czech Republic
Czech schoolchildren have five periods of rest: summer, autumn, Christmas (winter), spring and Easter holidays. Start and end dates for all holidays except spring are the same for all schools.
Spring break in the Czech Republic lasts one calendar week. They are in February or March. Spring break start and end dates vary by school location. Below we will tell you when the spring school holidays in the Czech Republic 2023-2024 begin and end, depending on the city or district.
Another interesting point is the length of the holidays. The Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports indicates that the autumn holidays last 2 days, and the Easter holidays – 1 day. But this is only official. In fact, these days are an addition to the Czech Independence Day and Easter holidays. So the autumn holidays are 3-5 days, and the Easter holidays are 5 days.

Summer holidays 2023: from Saturday 1 July to Sunday 3 September;
Autumn holidays 2023: officially – October 26 and 27, 2023, in fact – from Thursday 26 to Sunday 29 October;
Christmas holidays 2023-2024: from Saturday 23 December 2023 to Tuesday 2 January 2024;
Additional six months leave (day without classes): Friday 2 February 2024;
Spring Break 2024: one full week of school free from February 5 to March 17, 2024 ( see below for details );
Easter holidays: officially – Thursday 28 March, in fact – from Thursday 28 March to 1 April 2024;
Summer holidays 2024: from Saturday 29 June to Sunday 1 September.

Spring break dates in Czech schools depend on their location. There are 6 options in total. Below we will indicate the vacation period and the cities in which schoolchildren will not have classes this week.

Holidays when schools are closed
In addition to regular school holidays, children in the Czech Republic have extra days off for public holidays. There will be four such days in the 2023-2024 academic year:

Day of Struggle for Freedom and Democracy – November 17, 2023 (Friday);
