What holidays are there in Hungary
All significant dates can be divided into three types: public holidays, memorial days and unofficial holidays. In the list of Hungarian holidays 2025 below, we have indicated which type each day belongs to.
On public holidays, most residents have a day off from work. In 2025, there are 11 such days. Memorial days and unofficial holidays do not give the right to leave work. They are not established by law. But on these days, Hungarians observe certain traditions, and corresponding events may be held at the local level.
In addition to non-working days, there are long weekends on holidays. In 2025, there are five such periods. To implement them, working days are transferred to Saturdays that are 1-2 weeks away from them. You will find a list of long weekends and transferred working days at the end of the article.
