Below are the dates of school holidays for the 2024-2025 school year in Hungary. The schedule of summer holidays 2024 is given in the Hungarian Gazette No. 120:
Summer holidays 2024 for all classes except the last: from June 22 (Saturday) to September 1 (Sunday) 2024.
Summer holidays 2024 for the last year of study in secondary schools: from May 4 (Saturday) to September 1 (Sunday) 2024.
Summer holidays 2024 for the final year of study at vocational schools: from 1 June (Saturday) to 1 September (Sunday) 2024.
Autumn holidays 2024: from October 26 (Saturday) to November 3 (Sunday) 2024.
Winter holidays 2024-2025: from December 21 (Saturday) 2024 to January 5 (Sunday) 2025.
Spring Break 2025: April 17 (Thursday) to April 27 (Sunday), 2025.
Summer holidays 2025 for all classes except the last one: from June 21 (Saturday) to August 31 (Sunday) 2025.
Summer holidays 2025 for the final year of study in comprehensive schools: from May 1 (Thursday) to August 31 (Sunday) 2025.
Summer holidays 2025 for the final year of study at vocational schools: from 31 May (Saturday) to 31 August (Sunday) 2025.
IMPORTANT! It is possible that the school will have an extraordinary school holiday. This may happen due to force majeure circumstances (epidemic, natural phenomenon, etc.). In such a case, the school may introduce additional school days.
Additional days off for holidays in 2024-2025
In addition to school holidays, Hungarian children have public holidays in 2024-2025. There are a total of 11 such days in the school year. But 8 of them occur during school holidays. There are three red days left when schools are closed:
October 23, 2024 (Wednesday) – Memorial Day of the 1956 Revolution.
May 1, 2025 (Thursday) – Labor Day.
June 9, 2025 (Monday) – Pentecost.
