What You Need to Know About Serbian Holidays

Holidays in Serbia can be divided into two types: national (state) and religious. Also, a holiday can be a working or non-working day. The main religious holidays are mandatory non-working days, for example, Orthodox Christmas or Easter.

Some religious holidays give the right to a day off from work (at will) for people of a certain faith. For example, on Catholic Good Friday, Catholics have the right to a day off from work and school. Likewise, Muslims have the right not to work on the first day of Eid al-Adha.

IMPORTANT! In this publication we have listed all the holidays in Serbia in 2025 with explanations about them. These rules are set out in the Law on State and Other Holidays from 2011. They are also published in summary on the website of the Ministry of Labor, Employment, Veterans and Social Affairs of the Republic of Serbia.
